For many underprivileged children, nighttime often means a hard end to an equally hard day. Many go to bed wearing their street clothes or wearing nothing at all. That’s where Genevieve Piturro and the Pajama Program step in. This year, with 62 chapters across 34 States in America, Pajama Program approaches its 12th year.
Genevieve founded Pajama Program in 2001 to help create a warm and nurturing bedtime environment for youngsters living under difficult circumstances. Pajama Program, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization targets children in need ranging in age from newborn to 17, many who are without parents and/or permanent homes. It is through her dedication and commitment that to date, the organization has been able to provide more than 2 MILLION new pajamas and new books to children in need in the U.S.
In addition to her appearance on OPRAH (her show aired 3 times), Genevieve has appeared on TODAY (NBC), Good Morning America (ABC), The Early Show (CBS). CNN, Fox & Friends, and in O-The Oprah Magazine, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Glamour Magazine, SELF Magazine, American Baby, Parenting Magazine, Parents Magazine, Redbook, Woman’s World and hundreds of local media outlets.
Genevieve’s entrepreneurial spirit was fueled by her extensive background in marketing, first in the television syndication arena for many years and then for an event planning company with offices in London and NYC. She started Genevieve Unlimited in 1993 to service entertainment companies in their efforts to gain a competitive edge in the world of promotion. Clients included ABC-TV, Bravo Cable Network, Sport Magazine and Broadway
and London productions of “Crazy For You” and “Grease.”
Genevieve is a professional speaker and writes a blog for The Huffington Post. She is a recipient of the Heart for Children’s Award bestowed by ANDRUS in Westchester County, NY and was presented with the Thomas Caramadre Humanitarian Award by the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce. In November, 2011 she was named one of Westchester’s Most
Enterprising Women by 914INC magazine published by Westchester magazine. Genevieve is a founding board member of the Spirit of Hope Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit inspired by Pajama Program which offers college scholarships to High School seniors in foster care. A Yonkers, New York native, she received a Bachelor’s of Art Degree from Fordham University. She resides in Irvington, N.Y. with her husband, Demo DiMartile.
Terri Jasen, National Program Director
Terri Jasen, National Program Manager joined Pajama Program in August, 2005. Ms. Jasen manages all financial and business operations for Pajama Program. She comes to the Pajama Program with over 30 years of nonprofit experience in many capacities including Board Member, staff and volunteer. She has been involved with Organizational and Board Development with several social service agencies
in Washington State including Family Services of King County, the arts with the Pratt Fine Art Center in Seattle, healthcare with Planned Parenthood of Spokane, MS Association and Northwest AIDS Foundation, and the Seattle Children’s Museum.
Terri served as Board Secretary for SKIFORALL, which provides recreational opportunities for those with disabilities and was an Information and Referral Specialist for the AIDS Care Access Project and Spokane Health. Terri has served
on the Grant Review Committee for the United Way of King County and the Washington Women’s Foundation.
Diana Imhof, Chapter Relations and National Distribution Manager
Diana Imhof serves as Chapter Relations and National Distribution Manager for Pajama Program. She is responsible for all chapter-related issues and the distribution of pajamas and books to approved organizations throughout the U.S. She tracks all funds and expenses for each chapter and inventory levels to ensure ample supplies are on hand for shipments.
Diana joined Pajama Program in April 2010 after working as a volunteer since December 2009. Prior to joining Pajama Program, Ms. Imhof worked 20+ years for one of the top investment banks in New York, covering capital raising, product marketing, and client relationships.
Daisy Rodríguez, Reading Center Coordinator
As our Reading Center Coordinator, Daisy communicates with the NYC organizations we serve and with volunteers to offer the children a great reading experience on our weekly reading parties held in our reading center in Midtown Manhattan. Additionally, she advises schools, work groups, business, and individuals from all over the nation, who want to hold PJ and book drives on our behalf.
A native of Colombia, Daisy has lived in NYC for 3 years. She is a dog lover and an active volunteer for NY Cares, GrowNYC and Infinite Family. She has also worked with New York City’s Kids in Distressed Situations and the Student World Assembly.
Robert Vander Voord, Creative Services & IT Manager
Rob Vander Voord is the Graphic Designer, Digital Media Manager and IT staff member for Pajama Program. Rob is responsible for maintaining and updating web content, social media outreach, graphic design of print materials and acting as the on-site IT for the Pajama Program New York City office.
Rob relocated from New Mexico where he had over 7 years experience as a Graphic Designer, Artist, and Illustrator. He has had illustrations featured in Outer Darkness a Sci-Fi Horror magazine, and has been a featured artist in The Wooden Cow Gallery in New Mexico.
