Chapter Co-President, Janet Estevez-Filardi

It’s all about the children.

I’ve been searching for years for an organization that I could help as a volunteer. I wanted to focus on helping children.

When I was invited to a Pajama Program Awards luncheon in May at the Pierre Hotel in NYC, Idid not know what to expect and wasn’t prepared for the powerful impact it would have on me. What an amazing organization Pajama Program is! I immediately knew this was the organization I was searching for. I am deeply grateful for this unique opportunity to serve my community.

Chapter Co-President, Gerry Woods

Janet Estevez and I share the same love and inspiration from children. As an elementary school teacher for thirty years and now retired, I knew that I wanted to continue my involvement with children. I first heard about Pajama Program from the Oprah Show when Genevieve Piturro (founder and executive director of Pajama Program) was a guest. As I listened to her story, I was amazed and fascinated by her love and devotion to children in need. I began to inquire about the program and to my surprise, I have been able to collect and distribute many books and pajamas to many children in my area. However, I feel that the rewards I have received have far exceeded what I have done. As the saying goes, “One person can make a difference.” You can, too.
