Chapter President, Karen Dorrell
My husband and I moved from Maine to Pendergrass, GA in the Fall of 2011. We both grew up in Virginia so we are excited to be back down in the South. We enjoy hiking, camping and traveling. I am a graduate of James Madison University and have worked in the Environmental Engineering field for over 12 years.
I was the Chapter President for the Maine Chapter for over 4 1/2 years. I found out about Pajama Program while watching the Oprah show in April 2007. I immediately related to Genevieve. I was instantly inspired and wanted to learn more about the organization. I have wonderful memories of my parents reading stories to me while snuggled in bed wearing my warm, comfy pajamas. I recognize now how important that time was with my parents. I look forward to having a successful chapter in Georgia and helping those children that may not have the same opportunities I had as a child. I know from working with the shelters over the past couple of years how much the children truly appreciate the warm pajamas and books.
