Sioux Falls, SD Chapter
Chapter President, Lorie Hogstad
I am a lifelong resident of Sioux Falls a vibrant community tucked in the southeast corner of South Dakota. I just retired as the City Clerk after 36+ years of serving the community and citizens of Sioux Falls.
I am married to the love of my life, Roger, and we became first-time grandparents in the summer of 2015. I am fortunate to have my two grown children and their families living and working in Sioux Falls. We also have a cat, Harmony, and two dogs, Queenie (golden retriever) and Bella (retriever/lab mix). I love to craft and create and have a craft room where I spend a great deal of my time. I knit and sew, am learning the art of lettering, create mixed media on canvass, take and display photography, and love to read and write. I also enjoy going to the gym and taking our dogs on long walks.
I knew prior to retiring that I wanted to give back to the community that has given me so much. My passions are kiddos, books, and animals. I was looking for the “perfect fit” in a volunteer position and found the Pajama Program website. I knew this was the perfect opportunity for me and, when I saw there was no Chapter President for South Dakota, I contacted Pajama Program immediately. I look forward to representing Pajama Program in South Dakota and, taking care of our most wonderful asset, our children, especially those in need. I recently read a quote that sums up my reason for volunteering for this program: “Reading to children, even before they can understand words, teaches them to associate books with love and affection.” If you would like to assist with donating pajamas, books, and/or your time to this wonderful program in South Dakota, please contact me at email@example.com
