Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Mancuso, ATL

In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, we are spotlighting some of our most dedicated volunteers. Watch our blog and social media pages this week to meet just a few of the hundreds of volunteers who selflessly give their time to our mission each year.

How long have you been volunteering with Pajama Program?

I started volunteering at Pajama Program in March 2018.

What is your favorite part about volunteering?

I love volunteering at Pajama Program. The kids are amazing. Getting to read stories and interact with them is so enjoyable.  Many times they will point out something in the book that I hadn’t noticed.  And they are so appreciative of their time at the center. Many have told me it was the best day ever and they want to come back.  One girl asked how we were able to give out books and pajamas to her and her classmates. When we told her people donated them, she was so excited. I think it is so reassuring to know that there are people who care and want to help others.

I can’t say enough about the staff at Pajama Program. Douna and Regina are incredible. They are so giving and so in tune with everything that goes on in the center. They make sure that each child and every volunteer feels special and enjoys their time at Pajama Program. They have created a family-like atmosphere with the volunteers and I feel very fortunate to be a part of it.

Why do you volunteer with Pajama Program?

I like volunteering because I want to give back in some way. I think small gestures, like a smile or a kind word, can make a big difference.

Help us support good nights for good days for all children, everywhere.
