Joel Nuñez has worked in the education field for over 15 years primarily working with non-profit organizations and joined Pajama Program in 2023. He earned his B.A. in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley and his Masters in Human Development and Psychology at Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has taught and worked with elementary, middle school, high school and undergraduate students in different capacities throughout California, Boston, and New York City. He is passionate about helping under-resourced youth and families and knows that it takes the support of several to elevate and uplift others. He has helped launch several education initiatives in New York City public schools and afterschool programs and has experience building partnerships and working collaboratively with community-based organizations and schools.
Prior to Pajama Program, Joel worked at ExpandED Schools as Director of Early Literacy, where he oversaw program implementation, provided school sites with technical support and coaching, facilitated trainings for several hundred staff members and assisted with program evaluation to measure impact. In this work, Joel also helped ExpandED Schools launch their on-line professional development hub to help make ExpandED Schools’ trainings more accessible to people and education programs. Joel is excited to bring all his skills and experience to Pajama Program as it evolves and grows.
